Dear readers, authors and colleagues,
Let us introduce a brand new autumn issue of the Profese online Journal, presenting new research and review articles. This edition is interesting mainly due to the fact, that it is the last issue prepared by human hand.
The October issue 2/2016 of the Profese online Journal begins with a research article by team of authors comprising Olecká, Ivanová and Mihál titled "The pilot study of needs of primiparas with a child in a symbiotic period of life in health literacy". The research article focuses on the needs of first mothers and their health literacy in order to make their care of own health during pregnancy affect positively a relationship to their child's health, which they are directly responsible for.
The area of nursing is discussed in a research study "The inter-rater reliability of items of the Braden scale, the Norton scale and the Waterlow scale" from authors ©áteková and ®iaková, who analyse and evaluate the level of inter-rater reliability of individual items of selected scales for assessing the risk of decubitus. It is clear that proper assessment of risk of pressure ulcers in patients might influence the course of recovery and patient quality of life significantly.
In contrary to the first article, a study titled "Aspects of the quality of life of seniors with hip replacement", written by J. Tomanová, deals with quality of life, although from the opposite spectrum of ontogenetic development. It analyses the quality of life of seniors with replaced hip joint before and after the operation, and how did the replacement of hip joints generally affect their daily life, physical activity and self-sufficiency. The author points out an interesting fact that hip joint replacement is performed in 10,000 patients in the Czech Republic each year and this number is growing constantly.
There are also two review articles presented in the October issue. The first one, titled "Birth injury and its effect on pelvic floor and urinary incontinence in women", was written by authors Kramná a Vrublová and it closely solves the problem of urinary incontinence in connection with birth injury.
The second review article of authors Zaoralová, Kutnohorská and Mikąová "The US contribution to reorganization of the Czech nursing school in Prague during the years 1920–1923" clarifies the implementation of modern practices in nursing care, based on the experience of American nurses, in Czech nursing school in period of 1920–1923 and puts them in historical context.
We believe that the presented research and review articles bring new insights, recommendations and possibly inspiration, which will find application in theoretical and practical areas.
The following part of editorial is going to return to our initial statement "the last issue prepared by human hand".
Our dearest readers, it sounds like we were about to entrust the whole life of our magazine into the hands of some automated content management system robot, but the reality is not so scary. The entire editorial system is managed by people again, newly also administrating a progressive content management system ACTAVIA. Our team is still here for you, willingly ready to answer all your questions related to the introduction of this innovation. The whole environment of content management system is designed helpfully and communicatively for the authors and reviewers as well as the members of the Editorial Board. The readers will feel almost no change, as the structure and design of our website stays nearly the same. All your actions will be accompanied by instructional, informative and thank-you e-mails written by the creators and administrators of the system, with the only difference in terms of simplification of sending them.
You can enjoy various functional news, such as accessible functional links to online quotations, customized user profile, indicators of citation rate in graphs, personal archive and statistics of your activities. However, the major, already pre-announced progress consists in the form of advanced "connection with the world", respectively global databases thanks to allocation of the digital object identifier – DOI to all published articles.
In order to provide a smooth transition to content management system and allow you to be in advance, we are creating guidelines for each role of system users, not in the form of extensive manual but as a set of basic procedures based on personal experience with the process, which all articles passes through in the editorial office. In other words, we are creating a kind of cookbook. It will provide you with instructions for working with the system as an author, evaluator or reviewer. The material will be published on our website and available profiles soon. The significance of possibility to consult the instructions even before their official publication and application in the functional system is not only in giving you a chance to try it in advance, but mainly in presenting the pure simplicity, practicality and ease of use of the system, which will make easier work to all users.
Thanks to all these above mentioned steps, together with the others that will follow, we are trying to show the professionals as well as the general public that members of the editorial staff aim to improve content management system for you, the authors and readers, by gradual steps. Of course, that without you, the authors of research and review articles, our efforts would be meaningless. Please accept our gratitude for your cooperation and we are looking forward to further one. Only a joint effort and a quality effort can move the magazine forward qualitatively and continue to submit applications to significant international databases.
In this connection it should also be emphasized that publication of articles and subsequent allocation of DOI in the Profese online Journal is free of charge and the magazine provides open access to all articles.
In this context, we ask you authors not to underestimate the existence of the English version of your article, because the issue of the magazine can be called complete only if there is nothing missing. And global databases like complete products. We wish to do our best for your articles by providing them with DOI, though the viability of your article will mainly depend on how the content is accessible to the widest possible range of readers, not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. Together with the availability of editorial content through our website http://profeseonline.upol.cz, we have now expanded to include profiles on social networks Facebook and LinkedIn, presenting basic information about the journal, and space for publishing both current information from the editors, but also recording your observations, questions and tips.
The editors also offer cooperation in publishing posts from scientific conferences, specialized seminars, etc. We continue to devote our attention and support to contributions of students and novice authors. . In this regard, please contact chief editor of the Profese online Journal, doc. PaedDr. M. Kopecký, Ph.D. The editors will provide you with all the important data for publishing your article and ensure a high-quality review process.
We thank all the authors and reviewers for their cooperation and also thank the management of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Palacký University in Olomouc for supporting the activities of the Profese online Journal. online.
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to further cooperation
On behalf of the editorial board
