The article is focused on the hope and hopelessness of patients suffering from depression. The hope has a positive influence on health and well-being and is one part of one´s spirituality dimension. On the contrary hopelessness is frequently occurred as a symptom of depression and it has a negative influence on treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation of patients. Hopelessness leads to increased suicidal risk. We found out relative high proportion of patients with low hope and with hopelessness in spite of antidepressive treatment of these patients. Significant differences in level of hope were depending on marital status and denomination.
