Dear readers, This year, our journal Profese online has been covered a major event – celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Palacký University in Olomouc. The journal Profese online was actively involved in the celebration. In honor of the event, an international meeting took place of the Editorial Board of the journal Profese online. For more information and matters of interest, read the article Special meeting of the Profese online journal on 10 April 2018. We would also like to inform you that the Profese online journal has also made a successfully presentation at the annual meeting of the Reglek consultation group. In this year, the meeting of the medical library representatives took place in Olomouc at the Faculty of Medicine of the Palacký University. One of the members of the consultation group is the librarian of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the editor of the journal Bc. Irena Voříšková. The editor of the journal made a presentation at the meeting and had the opportunity to share information and interesting facts from the journal activities. All the members were given promotional materials of the journal, which will be posted and provided to hospitals, universities and healthcare facilities where the Reglek group members work. The journal Profese online is being ever more widely recognized among healthcare professionals throughout the Czech Republic. The first issue of the Profese online journal 2018 contains articles of research nature: The first article by authors Zatloukalová, Janoutová, Homza, Machazcka and Janout “Patients Using New Oral Anticoagulants - Outcomes of an Epidemiological Study” is concerned with the findings about new oral anticoagulants. The paper covers a study whose aim was to find out the basic characteristics of patients using new anticoagulants, including comorbidities and other important parameters. The article by Mikšová, Reiterová, Buchtíková, Konečná and Školoudík titled "Self-management in patients with diabetes mellitus" is fully concerned with the global health issue of diabetes mellitus. The number of patients with this disease is rising also in the Czech Republic and therefore it is important to place great emphasis on the control and management by patients themselves. You can read about self-management and its evaluation in the paper referred to above. The last article in this issue is dedicated to the risk of emergencies which, as we know, is advisable to never underestimate. It is important to always be prepared for such situations. The authors Kopecký and Pokorná used a questionnaire survey and wrote the article "The level of knowledge of students at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Palacký University in Olomouc about human security in emergencies". The results of the research showed that insufficient attention is paid to this topic, and the level of knowledge is insufficient. The authors also propose to introduce the issue into the curricula for non-medical students of health care. Dear authors and readers of the journal, we appreciate your patronage and look forward to further cooperation with all those involved in the making of the journal and its individual issues. doc. PaedDr. Miroslav Kopecký, Ph.D. and Bc. Irena Voříšková
