Dear readers, contributors and colleagues,
Let us bring you the 2nd issue of the Profese online Journal in 2017, providing you with articles from diverse areas of non-medical health sciences. The current issue contains the following articles:
An article titled "New anticoagulants", written by the group of authors Zatloukalová, Janoutová, Homza and Janout, presents basic information on the issue of new anticoagulants, which we can meet in almost all medical specializations across all levels of health care. This article is a student contribution. This means that the editors thus continue to meet one of their goals consisting of publishing professional articles from students of doctoral study programs and supporting the activity of such young authors and scientists.
Another article titled "Back pain in children and adolescents" was written by authors Tomanová and Kikalová. In their work they analyse and evaluate the results of the research study, which was focused on the incidence of back pain in relation to the daily routine of children and adolescents. The authors emphasize the importance of physical activity, which promotes health and prevents a number of diseases related to the predilection of the sedentary way of life and a decline in physical activity in the current population.
An article from Heczková and Bulava titled "The administration of medicinal products during nursing care provision at the ICU" describes practice in use of selected medicinal products with local effect during basic nursing care in intensive care workplaces.
In a similar way, an article titled "Objectification of the effect of cognitively guided therapy using virtual reality on the upper limb in patients after stroke" , written by the group of authors Návrátilová, Havelková, Katolická, Tečová and Bastlová, also presents the results from practice. The authors of the article describe new techniques based on robotics and virtual reality, which offer the possibility of active and intensive training of complex movements depending on the needs of the patient after stroke.
The Journalists from the Profese online Journal participated actively in the course and organization of an international scientific anthropological conference "Antropologické dny 2017", held on 6 - 7 September 2017 in Olomouc. The conference took place in cooperation between the Czech Anthropological Society, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine of Palacký University in Olomouc under the aegis of doc. MUDr. Jaroslav Vomáčka, Ph.D., MBA, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Palacký University in Olomouc. The main objective of the conference was the presentation of knowledge, attitudes and trends in anthropology. The conference welcomed not only anthropologists, but also doctors and paramedical staff. There was a student section as well, offering a possibility to present scientific activities of doctoral study program students. The General Meeting of the Czech Anthropological Society (ČSA) at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic was also held during the conference. Most of the professional performances were of a research character and presented partial outputs of specific projects, including those applied in practice. All participants had the opportunity to publish their contributions in the Profese online Journal as well as in the "Česká antropologie" magazine.
The editorial board of this journal hereby fulfils one of its goals: actively engage and support publishing of professional articles from scientific conferences, seminars and workshops in the Profese online Journal.
Finally, we have an extraordinary novelty to share with you. We can boast the first successful step in indexing the Profese online Journal within the EBSCO database currently. Our magazine successfully passed the evaluation procedure and has been evaluated as very good. Considering that the EBSCO database does not extend the current collections of medical Journals these days, we were offered the inclusion of a magazine in the upcoming new version of the CINAHL database.
The project should be carried out in 2018, so let's be surprised how the preparation of this database will continue. However, the evaluation of the high quality of our magazine pleased us anyway. Let us send the big thanks to the editors, the editorial board and, last but not least, the authors.
We would like to follow up on the issue of indexation in the SCOPUS database, where you may help as too. Not only because of quality articles published in our magazine but also by quoting. Quoting an un-indexed magazine in the SCOPUS database is one of the most important conditions for admission for the very indexing in the SCOPUS database. For this reason, it is very important to quote articles of the Profese online Journal in magazines that are indexed in this or other world databases.
Thank you for your cooperation, helpfulness and time spent in creating a common future of the Profese online Journal. Thank you for your support and we look forward to further cooperation.
