Dear readers, contributors and colleagues,

We are happy to bring you a new spring 2017 issue of the Profese online Journal, presenting you the articles from the field of non-medical health sciences.

In the April issue 1/2017, original scientific research articles are published. The first is an article of the collective of authors Kozáková, R., Vévodová, Š., Vévoda, J., Merz, L., Grygová, B., and Kozák, J. "Burnout syndrome in family members taking care of their relatives and in professional caregivers", focusing on the issue of patient care by family members as well as professional staff. This is an up-to-date topic, highly discussed in professional and political circles currently.
Chronic heart failure, which significantly affects the quality of life of the patient is discussed in the article called "Depression and quality of life in patients with chronic heart failure" written by the collective of authors Vévodová, Š., Andrlová, M. and Vévoda, J.

Increase in patients with diabetes mellitus, similarly as obesity or chronic heart failure, has had a growing tendency in 21st century, bringing a number of health problems and influencing the quality of life significantly. It is an important question to find out, whether education of patients with this disease is at a sufficient level and effective. The said issues are dealt with in an article called "Development and evaluation of content validity knowledge questionnaire for patients with diabetes mellitus", written by the collective of authors Šoukalová, K., Prázný, M., and Doležalová, B.

The last article falls within the field of physiotherapy. Authors Konečný, P., Sedláček, P. and Tarasová, M. present rehabilitation of the spastic aesthetic of the upper limb, which causes problems in gripping and manipulative functions of hands, in their research study titled "The influence of combinations air-splitting and botulinum toxin-a therapy to changes in spasticity of the hand".

Year 2017 has brought many innovations to the editorial office. As we informed you in the October 2016 issue, we have entrusted the magazine into the hands of the ACTAVIA automatic content management system. But do not worry that all activities are performed by some kind of "artificial intelligence". However, as we have already announced in the previous issue, transition to the automatic content management system was an important step forward for many reasons, which are related to scientific journals and their competitiveness.

This year's first issue can be proud of having an unofficial title "pioneer" among other issues of the journal. Authors of articles and reviewers, who had already the opportunity to work with the ACTAVIA content management system themselves, will certainly agree it is a very intuitive system and the entire process of inserting an article up to the review process as well as final insertion of the article into form, as we know it from the pages of the journal, was always held successfully.

At the same time, you may also have noticed the changes we made on our website. These changes were made in connection with the transfer to the ACTAVIA automated content management system. Website of the Profese online Journal currently embody the fundamental pillars: simplicity, clarity and consistency. None of the website visitors might overlook the box "Login", serving all future authors and reviewers to insert and manage their contributions. You can also insert your article on the tab „Guide for authors ", where there is the button "Submit article".

During the start of the new system in "sharp" operation, we tried to avoid all the complications that could occur. We believe that we have minimized all the complications when entering the new system. We have coped with any unpredictable situations that have arisen also thanks to all contributing authors and reviewers, who actually tested the system as the first ones. We thank all of you for your patience and cooperation while improving and debugging the system itself, which will be continued.

In the context of improving the content management system, we are also working hard to continuously improve the quality of our journal. Currently, the journal is being evaluated by the EBSCO multidisciplinary database and possible entry of the journal into this database would represent another significant milestone in our work. The bilingual versions of all articles help to improve indexing in individual databases and the great likelihood that articles will find more end-readers is a welcomed matter of course. All of the steps described above have the objective to gradually improve the quality of the journal and thereby to apply for its inclusion in the world's major databases. This is not easy at all, it is time-consuming and requires a lot of labour of members of the editorial staff, and therefore we are glad when the authors of presented articles actively help us too. Thank you.

These steps lead to improvements in quality of the Profese online Journal, but they are not final and they will not end either. We still have other goals to be reached gradually. The editors will be happy to respond to your comments or suggestions to improve the journal.

The Profese online Journal has been actively involved in preparation and implementation of the International Scientific Conference "Antropologické dny 2017", which takes place on 6 and 7 September 2017.

The International Scientific Conference is held in cooperation with the Czech Anthropological Society, Faculty of Health Sciences and Medical Faculty of Palacký University in Olomouc (www.fzv.upol.cz). The editorial office offered the conference participants an opportunity to publish their scientific articles in the Profese online Journal.

By doing this, the editorial staff of the journal fulfils its plans to offer cooperation in publishing contributions from scientific conferences, specialized seminars, etc. In this context, please contact the Editor-in-Chief of the Profese online Journal, doc. PaedDr. M. Kopecký, Ph.D. The editorial staff of the magazine will provide you with all the important information for publishing the article and will ensure quality review procedure. We believe that other organizers of future conferences, seminars and other events will take this opportunity.

The editors would like to thank all the authors and reviewers for their cooperation. We would also like to thank to the management of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Olomouc for their support of the Profese online Journal activities.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to further cooperation
