HEALTHY START IN LIFE

Dear readers and contributors,

Healthy start in life is a topic of this editorial, not only in terms of man but also our journal. Therefore, we would like to familiarize you with important events and facts from the life of our journal and briefly introduce the subject area of contributions in October issue.

In April we informed you about the steps we were taking in relation to our application for inclusion of our journal to the SCOPUS database. Requirements for formal and professional level of the magazine are really high. The core parameters include the internationalization of the magazine, formal processing and professional level of published articles, including their citation in world-renowned databases. In the business sphere, the priority is to maintain the competitiveness of the company, and therefore cooperation is usually not the accentuated strategy. On the contrary, the widest possible cooperation with domestic and foreign authors is a vital strategy in the field of publishing the journal. It includes a good promotion and quality management of periodicals as well as motivational activities in relation to authors. There are the following incentives set in our magazine:

  • Free publishing of accepted articles;
  • Openness and support in publishing early stage researchers;
  • cooperation in organizing conferences, seminars and expert lectures with the possibility to publish the presented contributions after the post-review process in the Profese online journal.

Currently, our magazine is also undergoing evaluation assessment for the Index Copernicus database. We will inform you about the results of the evaluation. Another important event for the next period is a transformation of the present editorial system to a higher level, represented by the Actavia content management system. This system willenable, among other things, stronger links with existing databases and introduction of evidence of our articles using a centralized system DOI identifier (Digital Object Identifier). We hope taht this will help us fulfill the principle of "see and be seen." "Life" of our journal has been initiated healthily, but its successful development needs further support. In this context, we would like to request you, dear authors, for a quotation of the Profese online journal articles in your professional contributions, prepared for publication in the journal or other professi onal magazines. Many thanks also to all the authors who have not been discouraged during the thorny path of the fight with growing demands and continue to have an interest to publish in our journal.

The October issue of the Profese online journal thematically focuses on the life stage identified as a healthy start in life by the World Health Organization in its document Health 21. This area includes, among others, care for the laboring woman, screening of newborns and breastfeeding support. While taking care of the laboring woman, it is necessary to pay special attention to labor pains, which accompany childbirth as a physiological phenomenon and form a specific category of pain in midwifery. As part of the examination of a newborn, the screening of otoacoustic emissions can provide an early opportunity to capture auditory defects and deviations and prevent the disorderly development of communication skills of the child. Breastfeeding is the optimal method of infant feeding, which allows creating a strong bond between mother and child. For professional assessment of needs and determination of relevant nursing diagnoses relate d to the above three areas of a healthy start in life, we need to validate the diagnostic elements of nursing diagnoses for the Czech cultural environment.
