PT - JOURNAL ARTICLE AU - Heldtová, Karolína AU - Vránová, Věra TI - The effect of a sexual aktivity on the mental health of a woman (student contribution) DP - 2021 Aug 31 TA - Profese Online PG - 1--8 VI - 14 IP - 1 IS - 18034330 AB - Background: The quality of sexual activity has a serious impact on a woman's mental state. Aim: To study the level of uncertainty feelings in women before a sexual activity, the level of mental relaxedness during a sexual activity and the level of sad feelings after a sexual activity. Methodology: Standardized quantified questionnaire Female Sexual Function Index was used, which was modified and translated into Czech. Furthermore, it was extended by socio-demographic questions and by questions related to mental well-being during a sexual activity. The questionnaire contained a total of twenty-six questions. The research survey involved sexually active respondents aged 18 to 70 throughout the Czech Republic. The data has been collected using the snowball sampling method and the electronic questionnaire that was placed at www.survio.cz website. The research survey took place from November 2018 to February 2019. Results: It was found that the highest overall FSFI score (with the added area of mental health) was achieved by women aged 36 to 45 years (31.579 vs. 36.916) and the lowest FSFI score was achieved by women older than 56 years (26.267 vs. 31.015). Conclusion: The objectives of the research survey were met. The results show that a sexual activity that includes the area of sexual desire, excitement, lubrication, orgasm, pain and satisfaction is closely related to and influential for the mental well-being of a woman in her sexual life. Women aged 36 to 45 years have reached the highest total score, while women aged over 56 years have reached the lowest total score.
